Elmwood’s are delighted to introduce our treasure of the week. Lot 53 – a paraiba tourmaline and diamond convertible ring/pendant. The ring is set with a central cushion cut tourmaline of 6.39 carats in a double halo of approximately 2.60 carats of round and pear cut diamonds, ring size O / 7, the pendant measuring 2.9cm, stamped 18K, 9.1g. It is accompanied by a gemological report stating that the tourmaline is natural and of neon blue colour.
Estimate: £15,000 – £25,000
Tourmalines occur in almost every colour, however Paraiba tourmalines are one of the most sought after gems in the world for their ocean-like glow. This unparalleled neon colour is caused by the trace element copper. Tourmalines of this colour are mined in Brazil and Mozambique with the Brazilian gems being rarer than gem quality diamond.
Lot 53 will be offered in our two day winter auction taking place on Monday 16th December, 2pm & Tuesday 17th December, 2pm.
