FASTEST PAYMENTS – We will aim to pay you within seven days of your items being paid for by the buyers – no other auction house in London offers this, with most waiting 28-42 days before paying. In most cases, with some exceptions, you should have received payment within a maximum of 21 days of the auction.
ZERO FEES – We have the simplest and cheapest fee structure for selling of any UK based auction house – we do not charge anything! We make no charges for cataloguing, storage, lotting, insurance, and do not deduct anything from your statement of sales at the end! You get back 100% of the hammer price your lot sells for, compared with as little as 70-80% elsewhere.
LOWEST BUYER’S PREMIUM – We have the lowest buyer’s premium of any other London or major provincial auction house, with our competitors charging 25% – Sothebys, Bonhams, Christies, Phillips, Chiswick Auctions, Tate Ward, Roseberys, Woolley & Wallis. This means potential buyers with us will bid higher, relative to other auction houses, thus increasing your net return.
SUPERIOR QUALITY ILLUSTRATIONS – Our expert photography ensures only the best illustrations are used for our online and printed catalogues, maximising the selling potential of your jewellery.

Free Auction Valuations
The first step to selling your item is to request a free auction valuation. This can be done online here, or by emailing or telephoning us, or in person either at one of our regular valuation days or by appointment at your own home.
Sign an Auction Agreement
If you are satisfied with your pre-sale estimate, and have decided you wish to proceed with selling your pieces at Elmwood’s, you can ship or deliver your items to us, and we will provide you with a full written contract of consignment detailing your property, as well as estimates, reserves and terms of sale, to be signed by both parties.
The Hard Work
As soon as we have your property, we will begin to research, photograph, catalogue and market it ahead of the auction. Items will be photographed for inclusion in our printed catalogues as well as to be showcased online with our digital bidding platforms. Your items will be carefully marketed to an international clientele of collectors, institutions and industry professionals alike in order to ensure they reach their fullest potential, maximising your return.
Auction Day and Viewing
Your items will be on display in our gallery space prior to auction. We encourage vendors to come and view their items prior to auction if they want. Items will go under the hammer on auction day, and you will be notified by email at the end of the sale day whether or not your items have sold, and if sold, the price achieved.
After the Sale
Shortly after the auction, vendors will receive payment in full by their preferred payment method, and will as receive emailed statements detailing sales results and net returns less any commission and other charges due, which will always be agreed prior to sale of any goods. Payment times will vary, but we do our best to ensure that as soon as your lots have been paid for by their buyers, you will be paid within 7 days.
Unlike almost every other auction house in the world, we offer our expert services to vendors free of charge. We do not impose any commission charges to vendors, nor do we make any deductions for lotting, storage, handling, photography, marketing, insurance, etc. Additionally, we do not impose any charges for unsold lots. Many auction houses will soak up as much as 45% of the total sale value of your pieces, but with us we guarantee to charge the you, the vendor, zero. When selling with us, there is nothing to lose.
